The Chess Championship at BLAZE 2026 is the ultimate battle of minds. In the arena of 64 squares, every move counts — strategy, foresight, and mental resilience are the keys to victory. The tournament brings together IILM University's sharpest thinkers for a prestigious rapid chess competition.

Chess is more than a game — it's a sport of intellect. Whether you're a seasoned club player or a self-taught tactician, BLAZE's chess arena is where you prove that the pen (and the pawn) can be mightier than any physical contest.

Registration fee: ₹250 per player(Boys or Girls)

Tournament Rules

1FIDE Blitz Laws All games will follow official FIDE blitz rules to maintain fairness and standard gameplay.

2Swiss System (5 Rounds) Players compete across 5 rounds, matched with opponents of similar scores without elimination.

3A game is lost if a player does not complete the required number of moves before their time expires (Article 6.9).

4Pairings will follow FIDE Swiss Rules (Dutch System)

5Players will not face the same opponent twice

6Pairings will be published before each round.

7Win = 1 point • Draw = 0.5 point • Loss = 0 point

8.Illegal Moves Rule: The first illegal move will be penalized, while the second illegal move will result immediate loss

9Touch-Move Rule: If a player touches a piece, they must move it if a legal move is available.

10Tie-Break CriteriaWinners in case of tie scores will be decided using Buchholz, Sonneborn-Berger, or direct encounter

11Arbiter’s Decision: The arbiter’s ruling will be final in all situations to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the tournament
